1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help sites work properly, remember your preferences between visits, and give site owners a basic understanding of how people use their pages.

Not all cookies are the same. Some are essential — the site literally can't work without them. Others are optional extras like analytics or personalisation. This page explains every category we use on showprompt.net.

2. How we use cookies on showprompt.net

ShowPrompt.net is a lean marketing and download site. We don't run advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or heavy third-party analytics. Here's the full picture:

Strictly necessary cookies
Our site is hosted on Netlify. Netlify sets session and security cookies required for the site to function — things like CSRF protection and load balancing. These are set automatically and cannot be disabled without breaking basic site behaviour. No consent is required for strictly necessary cookies under PECR.

Functional cookies
We don't set any functional cookies ourselves beyond what Netlify requires for hosting.

Your choice comes first
Nothing that measures or tracks you loads until you accept. On your first visit you'll see a short banner with Accept and Decline. Decline and no analytics or advertising script is ever loaded. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link, which clears your choice and asks again.

Analytics: Google Analytics
If you accept, we load Google Analytics (property G-3YDZKX80QS) to understand which pages people find useful and where they arrive from. It sets cookies in your browser. See Google's privacy policy.

Advertising: Google Ads and Meta Pixel
If you accept, we load the Google Ads tag (AW-18203731004) and the Meta Pixel (1329196929143170). These tell us which adverts led to a download or a purchase. The Meta Pixel also records when you click through to checkout. Both set cookies and both share data with their providers. See Google's privacy policy and Meta's privacy policy.

Hosting
Netlify may collect basic, anonymised traffic data such as page views and general geographic region as part of serving the site. This is aggregated and is not tied to you.

Third-party: Google Fonts
Pages on showprompt.net load the Archivo typeface from Google's font CDN. When this request is made, Google may set cookies on your browser. We don't control these. See Google's privacy policy for details.

Third-party: Lemon Squeezy
If you visit our checkout or customer portal, Lemon Squeezy sets cookies necessary for payment processing, fraud prevention, and session management. These are required for purchases to work. See Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy for details.

3. The ShowPrompt application

The ShowPrompt software you download and run on your computer does not use browser cookies.

It uses your browser's localStorage to remember preferences such as window positions, display settings, and session state. This data is stored entirely on your own machine and is never transmitted to our servers.

In plain terms: the app has no cookies and sends no preference data anywhere. Your show settings stay on your device.

4. Managing cookies

You can view, block, and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here's where to find them:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions

Disabling strictly necessary cookies (Netlify session cookies) may affect basic site functionality. Disabling Lemon Squeezy cookies will prevent checkout from working.

5. Changes to this policy

If our cookie use changes — for example if we add a new tool or service — we'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date at the top. Check back here if you want to see the current position.

We won't introduce advertising cookies or tracking pixels without clearly noting it here first.
